1919: The Weimar Republic is born from chaos and resistance, ushering in a new era of creativity amidst the turbulence.
2021: It is said that history repeats itself, firstly as tragedy and secondly as farce.
Following a sold-out run at the Barbican Art Gallery and a performance featuring songs from the Weimar Cabarets for Bono and Chris Martin, the “cabaret kings” (The Londonist) return. Songs of Resistance revisits the satirical songs of the Berlin Cabarets, protest songs from Latin America and more.
Award-winning actor and singer William Ludwig and West End MD Dean Austin will take Songs of Resistance to the Kurt Weill Festival at the Bauhaus in Germany next year.
