England. A remote country house. A young governess, hired to care for two children, begins what appears to be an idyllic new life – but something about the children hints at a darker presence.
Desperate to protect them from what she believes to be malevolent spirits, she finds herself descending into a world of ambiguity, leading to one far-reaching question: are the ghosts real… or are they a projection of something far more terrifying?
A masterwork of psychological suspense and the inspiration for Susan Hill’s The Woman in Black, Henry James’ classic novella The Turn of the Screw is brought to life in this brand-new stage adaptation by Olivier Award-winning playwright Morgan Lloyd Malcolm (Emilia; The Wasp).

She also spent time filming in California in 2024. The Turn of the Screw marks her second national tour, following her lead role in Indigo Giant.

Morgan was commissioned by Shakespeare’s Globe to write Emilia which became a hit show in summer 2018 before transferring to the West End in 2019, winning three Olivier awards including Best Entertainment or Comedy Play. Her feature adaptation of her play The Wasp, starring Naomie Harris and Natalie Dormer and directed by Guillem Morales, was released in 2024 following a showing at the Tribeca Festival. Morgan’s previous stage credits include Dracula (Lyric Hammersmith), Belongings (shortlisted for the Charles Wintour Award), The Wasp (Hampstead Theatre and Trafalgar Studios), Typical Girls (Sheffield Crucible) and Mum (Plymouth Theatre Royal and Soho Theatre). She also co-wrote the book for new musical Cake, which was performed in London in 2023 and 2024 following an initial tour in 2022.

A finalist in the 2024 Sir Peter Hall Directors Award and a member of the Young Vic Genesis and Stage Directors UK programmes, she is currently developing new musicals and plays, including a new comedy with Sally Phillips, and a farce with Jessica Swale. Nicky’s other directing credits include Edinburgh hit Jobsworth by Isley Lynn & Libby Rodliffe, the London revival of The Walworth Farce by Enda Walsh which opened the new Southwark Playhouse Elephant, and the 60th anniversary tour of Oh What A Lovely War (Blackeyed Theatre). She was a National Theatre staff director for Melly Still’s My Brilliant Friend.

Wayne Fox is a London-based magic and illusion consultant specialising in the design and integration of theatrical magic for stage productions, live performance, and television.
A Member of the Inner Magic Circle with Gold Star and an Examiner for The Magic Circle, Wayne has spent decades creating original illusion methods and stage effects in collaboration with directors, producers, and performers. His theatre consultancy includes illusion design for pantomime productions such as Cinderella and Peter Pan, as well as magical staging for Maddie at the Arcola Theatre.
Wayne also served as consultant on James Phelan’s show Dreamer, developed at Harlow Playhouse and later performed at The Magic Circle as part of its wider tour. Beyond theatre, he has created bespoke effects for television magician Dynamo and has designed magical presentations for major brands including Nissan (across Mill Hill, Camden, and Waltham Abbey) and Mercedes-Benz through UK and international events. Known for combining psychological misdirection with practical, repeatable stage-safe solutions, Wayne works closely with creative teams to deliver impossible moments that serve story, character and spectacle.

She is an Immersive Arts grant recipient, a Directors UK member, a keen amateur carpenter and a butler to two large cats.
