Come and join the Arcola team. Current job opportunities are listed below.
Whether you have specific skills that you want to develop, want to find out about the many different careers available in theatre, or just want to meet people and work in an interesting environment; come join us at Arcola.
Arcola Theatre offers a diverse range of volunteering opportunities. Due to the high level of interest, we usually offer placements of 3 – 6 months duration and prioritise those who can commit to regular times. We actively encourage people from all backgrounds to join us – the only prerequisites are to be aged 18+ (except for work experience placements), enthusiastic, friendly, reliable and committed.
Our Front of House Team are regularly supported by volunteer ushers who support audiences to get the most out of their visit to Arcola.

This is an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to gain hands-on experience of how Arcola Theatre runs. Volunteers primarily offer support to the Production team, helping complete a huge array of tasks in the office and around the building. These will be varied, but may include assisting with theatre hire, fielding general enquiries, supporting in-house productions and script reading.
This is likely to involve assisting other departments at times, so the selected volunteer can expect to gain a broad introductory knowledge of how Arcola Theatre operates.
To Apply: Please send a cover letter and CV to email@example.com with Volunteer Production Intern in the subject heading. The best applicants will articulate exactly why they are looking for experience in theatre administration and production specifically, rather than merely expressing a general interest in theatre. They should be able to work well under pressure, and manage several tasks at once.
Please note: Production Interns volunteer three consecutive days each week, either Mon-Wed, or Wed-Fri.
This is an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in participation and engagement work, looking to gain hands-on experience of how Arcola Theatre Participation runs. Volunteers primarily offer support to the Participation team, helping complete a huge array of tasks. These will be varied, but may include assisting with youth theatre and community companies, supporting and marketing festivals and productions, working with schools and cultural organisations and reading scripts.
This is likely to involve assisting other departments at times, so the selected volunteer can expect to gain a broad introductory knowledge of how Arcola Theatre and the broader Participatory sector operates.

We are looking for hard working individuals who are passionate about theatre, with a love of problem solving and no fears about getting their hands dirty. Work includes assisting the Production Manager and his technical team with fit ups/get ins, set building, equipment maintenance and more. Electrical knowledge and experience of carpentry/woodwork is desirable as would working with power tools and working at heights. Time commitment: The Technical Department’s hours vary but we usually consider individuals who can be available evenings until late and weekends.
To Apply: Please send an email to email@example.com with ‘Technical Volunteer‘ in the subject heading.
Recommended commitment is 3 consecutive days a week, for three months. We regret that we are not able to offer expenses or payment at the moment.
We offer one-week work experience placements to secondary school pupils in Years 9 – 13 through Inspire! Education and Business Partnership (Hackney Secondary Schools only).
All of our placements are admin based within our Creative Engagement Department, with opportunities to observe work in the theatre when possible, and have an emphasis on learning about the running of a theatre.
To take part, ask your school careers or work experience teacher if your school works with Inspire!
Unfortunatley we are unable to support work experience for students who do not attend secondary school in Hackney.
Please note: We receive a very high volume of interest and regret that we cannot respond to all individually.
