The Red Channel

by Jenny Steele

A Polish meat packer intimidated by gang masters; an Afghan singer who seeks asylum; a Nigerian street-market butcher… and a glimpse at the Immigration Service.

The Red Channel – Tales of Migration has been developed from Immigration Monologues staged at The Southwark Playhouse last October. Funny informative and harrowing, The Red Channel highlights some of the misunderstandings and misconceptions caused by cultural differences.

Audience comments from the Southwark Playhouse production:

‘A wonderful tribute to the challenges that many face in an ever-changing multiracial society’

‘Exactly what theatre should be doing in response to current racial tensions’

‘The writing was sincere, the production perfect in its simplicity’

‘The description of being a British person with non-British heritage had particular resonance for me’.
