Pedro and the Captain

What happens when an interrogator and his prisoner spend longer together than unexpected?


Written by acclaimed Uruguayan poet Mario Benedetti and adapted by Marcus Stewart from a translation by Andreu Segura, the play is a moving psychological study on the effects of torture on both prisoner and interrogator.


They believe in conflicting versions of their country yet what they appear to share seems far greater than their differences. Can they rediscover their common humanity?


In the early years of a millennium that has so far been characterised by the “war on terror” this is an apposite time to stage this thought provoking one act play.


Following successful previews at Antenna Studios, Crystal Palace in January of this year LAST Theatre presents a week run of “Pedro and the Captain” at Arcola Theatre.
