Neaptide

Neaptide

Sarah Daniels

Clare, a teacher and a mother, has left her husband and moved to share a flat with a woman.

Does she betray her principles to gain custody of her child? Or risk everything and strike out against prejudice.

Neaptide is a witty and unflinching incision into sexual discrimination in the 1980’s Britain.

Neaptide

Sarah Daniels

Claire is a history teacher. Two girls have just come out at school. There is shock and disbelief in the staffroom. Claire has to face up to a choice. Does she stay quiet and protect the closely guarded secret of her own sexuality or does she stand up for the girls? At home she is facing a custody battle over the right to bring up her daughter. A lesbian mother, under siege from all sides in the closeted world of the 1980s.

Framed by the ancient myth of Demeter and Persephone, Neaptide is a modern story, full of heart and wit.
