My German Roots Are Showing

Miriam Website (1)Eve (Miriam Margolyes), having fled persecution in Germany as a child, does not want to be reminded of the past. So when her daughter stand-up comic daughter (Deb Filler) is invited to perform in Eve’s hometown and drags her mother along, their relationship ferments faster than you can say ‘sauerkraut’.

My German Roots Are Showing combines a heartwarming mixture of social commentary with a large dollop of comedy. This song-filled show explores the challenges of excavating a painful past as a mother and daughter wrestle with present day pressures: train delays, over-compensating locals and bittersweet ‘torte’ moments.

This is a script reading (not a full staging), which will be followed by a Q&A.
