This six week introduction to Physical Theatre will introduce you to a range of skills inspired by the teachings of Jacques Lecoq. Working towards a liberated body of physical expression we will work through basic techniques of Physical Storytelling including Mime, Ensemble work, Elements, Movement and Devising.
This course is ideal for any performers looking to expand their physical vocabulary and build their ability to embody a character. It is also an opportunity to work in a supportive ensemble through team building exercises to create a theatrical atmosphere and narrative. Participants will gain confidence in their ability to communicate through their body and engage more imaginatively with how they use it.
This workshop is led by award-winning performer, deviser and theatre-maker Jordan Turner.
Monday 30 April – Monday 4 June 8pm-10pm
Jordan Turner has worked with Tall Stories, Arcola Theatre and a groundbreaking production of ‘Animal Farm’ using puppetry and mask. He has worked with world-renowned physical theatre companies Frantic Assembly and Complicite, as well as exploring the world of film and motion capture.
Jordan is the founder and Artistic Director of The Outbound Project, an Award-Winning Theatre Company (Les Enfant Terribles Partnership Award) focusing on devised work, creating Physical Theatre productions that are visually impressive and created by an ensemble.
Jordan trained in Physical Theatre at East 15 Acting School studying a number of modules from Aerial Circus to Neutral mask work. He has developed a passion for telling stories in visually dynamic ways and often creating theatre with very little.
