PLAYWRITING FOUNDATIONS: WEEKEND INTENSIVE – CONSENTING ADULTS

Arcola invites you to Playwriting Foundations – an intensive weekend masterclass, where you will be guided through the process of writing a script for an original play.

Experienced dramaturg and director Nic Connaughton will help you unpack every element of scriptwriting for stage; providing tools and exercises for aspiring writers to develop their craft. On top of receiving feedback and mentoring, you will have the chance to freely experiment with a mixture of hands-on exercises and uncensored discussions.

Saturday 15th September 10am – 4pm
Sunday 16th September 10am – 4pm

£170*

He was formerly the Associate Producer at Arcola Theatre in Dalston. As a director, his productions include: The Little Prince, A Midsummer Nights Dream (both of which he also adapted), Corpus Christi (Arcola Theatre) and BOY (Arcola and Wilderness Festival). He has also directed large-scale outdoor performances in the UK and across Europe, including at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Gillet Square, Glastonbury Music and Arts Festival and
Rotterdam Summer Carnival. As a producer and dramaturg he founded and ran the PlayWROUGHT New Writing Programme from 2014-2018 which discovered and nurtured seven critically acclaimed productions including Mark Jagasia’s five-star sell-out hit Clarion (winner of two Off-West-End Awards), as well as productions eventually performed at Hampstead Downstairs, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Theatre503 and Leeds Studio.
