A SPECIAL THEATRE EVENT!
Award-winning playwright Philip Ridley’s two most recent plays, The Poltergeist and Tarantula, played to standing ovations, critical acclaim, and a clutch of OFFIE nominations when they premiered at Arcola Theatre in 2022 and earlier this year.Â
Now, these two plays have been brought together in repertory by their original director Wiebke Green to further explore Ridley’s thrilling and darkly comic theatrical rollercoasters.
Cast to be announced.
THE POLTERGEIST
At 15, Sasha was called an art world prodigy. Celebrities wanted to buy his paintings. His first exhibition was going to make him a superstar. But now he lives in a run-down flat, with his out-of-work boyfriend, and no one’s even heard of him… What went wrong?
An exhilarating and deeply moving one-man play about art, family, memory, and being haunted by the life we never lived.
The Poltergeist was first performed by Joseph Potter and directed by Wiebke Green at Southwark Playhouse, London, on 20 November 2020, as a live stream produced by Tramp Theatre Company. It received its live stage debut, with the same cast and director, at the Arcola Theatre, London, produced by Arcola Theatre and Flying Colours Productions Ltd. on 12 October 2022.
