Arcola Academy invites you to apply to join our 54.60 Africa Response Project

Arcola Academy is a theatre training and development opportunity for 18 – 25 year old emerging creatives who are based in Hackney and East London. For this project, we will be working exclusively with 10 participants from the global majority. 

This project invites a new Academy cohort to co-create and perform a dynamic piece of theatre in response to Arcola Theatre’s in house production of 54.60 Africa

54.60 Africa Response Project – Academy Participant – project includes:
  • Perform on Arcola Theatre’s main stage 
  • Work with industry led professionals to create a high quality response piece 
  • Mentoring opportunities with industry professionals
  • Free ticket to see Jane Eyre here at Arcola Theatre 
  • Free ticket to see 54.60 Africa here at Arcola Theatre 
  • Free headshot /portrait taken by Oluwatosin Daniju
  • Total of £65 per member paid towards travel to/from rehearsals 
Key Dates:

To apply for this project, you must be able to commit to the following dates and times. 

  • Watching 54.60 Africa: Thursday 26th of June (6.30pm – 10.00pm)
  • Session 1: Monday 30th of June (10.30am – 12.30pm)
  • Session 2: Tuesday 1st July (10.30am – 12.30pm)
  • Session 3: Wednesday 2nd July  (10.30am – 12.30pm) 
  • Session 4: Thursday 3rd July (10.30am – 12.30pm) 
  • Session 5: Monday 7th July (10.30am – 12.30pm) 
  • Session 6: Tuesday 8th July (10.30am – 12.30pm) 
  • Session 7: Wednesday 9th July (10.30am – 12.30pm)
  • Performance: Thursday 10th at 2.30pm July (10.30am -3.30pm)

Applications are now open! Deadline for applications is Thursday 29th May 2025. Successful applicants will be notified on Friday 6th of June 2025.

Arcola Academy provides young people with a vital springboard towards further education, employment or a career in the creative industries. Past participants include Lynette Linton (Artistic Director, Bush Theatre) and Arinze Kene (Misty, Bush Theatre and Trafalgar Studios).
