This course will be led by director Ben Naylor.
Ben is Senior Lecturer in Acting and Course Leader of MA Acting (Classical) at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He directs and teaches acting and Shakespeare internationally.
Having studied Classics and Theology at Durham and Oxford, Ben trained as a director at the National Theatre, Young Vic and Caird Company, and as an actor at Drama Centre London. Shakespeare productions since 2000 include Cymbeline, Othello, Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It, Antony and Cleopatra, The Winter’s Tale, Much Ado About Nothing, The Merchant of Venice, Henry IV, Julius Caesar, Hamlet and Macbeth. Other productions include The Rover (Behn), The Devils (Whiting), Mary Stuart (Schiller), The Suicide (Erdman), The Broken Heart (Ford), Three Sisters (Chekhov), Britannicus (Racine), Tamburlaine the Great and Dr Faustus (Marlowe), The Revenger’s Tragedy (Middleton) and The White Devil (Webster).
He is a contributor to the Routledge Companion to Actors’ Shakespeare and a regular speaker at conferences and symposia on Shakespeare and actor training.
