After winning Summerhall’s Lustrum Award 2018 at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a feature on BBC World Service, Seemia Theatre’s spellbinding Evros | The Crossing River returns to Arcola Theatre for two nights only.
Follow Doaa who dreams of a better life amongst a backdrop of war, terror and enduring love. The boy from the local garden centre, whose tranquil existence amongst the flowers is torn apart. A mother who cannot keep her children safe.
This immersive experience envelopes you into the current refugee crisis. Evros | The Crossing River explodes with Seemia’s unique blend of storytelling, musicality and physical theatre.
Devised with generous support from Arcola Theatre as part of the LAB for BAMER artists, Theatre Deli and Arts Council England.
From the native Persian, Seemia translates as ‘Casting a spell with words.’ True to it’s word, Seemia’s current production, Evros, is a spellbinding show. Seemia Theatre are an acclaimed international theatre ensemble dedicated to sharing stories that ought to be heard. We endeavour to connect the performers and audience with current issues in society fusing physical theatre, musicality, poetic text and storytelling. The ensemble of 6 artists from Iran, Argentina and the UK was established in October 2015 following 8 months of training with award-winning Polish theatre company, Song of the Goat. Seemia Theatre are supported by Tangled Feet through their Emerging Ensemble Mentoring progamme.
