DEVISING THEATRE- CONSENTING ADULTS

This six-week intensive course is designed for people interested in developing skills in devising theatre. The course aims to introduce its students to varied
techniques, methodologies, theories and practices involved in devising theatre.

This course is indispensable for anyone wishing to perform at the next level, pursue a pathway to further training or explore a career in this field. Specifically you might be teacher, have your own company, work as a solo artist in the live arts sector, direct or perform in devised, amateur, community or educational theatre or work as freelance drama practitioner for theatre companies or community organisations. You will enhance your physical, emotional, imaginative and cognitive playfulness in order to be well equipped for the demanding journey of articulating, shaping and presenting your artistic visions.

Bec Martin-Williams trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Australia and holds a Masters in Shakespeare and Education from the Shakespeare Institute, Stratford-Upon-Avon. She has worked as an actor and a director in Australia and the UK. Most recently, she directed The Selfish Giant (Arcola Theatre), Julius Caesar & The Tempest (The Shakespeare Institute). Bec has taught young and not so young people around the world, including NIDA, Australian Theatre for Young People and The Royal Shakespeare Company. She is currently Arcola Theatre’s Creative Engagement Coordinator.
