GREEN ARCOLA

Green Arcola LogoGreen Arcola works within Arcola Theatre to provide sustainability research and monitoring, project management and implementation as well as support to the Hackney community, theatre productions and other arts organisations. One of Green Arcola’s missions is to showcase advances in renewable energy technologies, bringing sustainable solutions for the future to new and unexpected audiences.

For Arcola Theatre productions, Green Arcola provides support through researching and implementing sustainable resources – such as sourcing sets through local recycling networks and (for the company Simple8) providing hydrogen fuel cell performance lighting. Within the Arcola Theatre building the department is responsible for monitoring energy consumption and other carbon emissions related issues, helping the organisation set annual carbon reduction targets as we work towards becoming carbon neutral. Locally, Green Arcola helped to develop Dalston Eastern Curve Garden and provides quarterly free family oriented events, Green Sundays. Beyond the local community, Green Arcola offers advice and leadership to other arts organisations on sustainable practices.
