ARCOLA ENERGY FOR SCHOOLS  WORKSHOPS

A range of science and technology workshops which explore renewable energies and the possibilities that they offer for a low-carbon future.

Build Your Own Wind Turbine

This one hour workshop will explore one of the key forms of renewable energy – wind power.  Participants will work in teams, using recycled materials to design and build their own wind turbine blades.  These blades will then be tested inside a wind tunnel to find which design generates the most power.

The Hydrogen Fuel Cell Car Competition

Build a hydrogen-powered car and compete against other designs to discover which car can travel furthest. As new and more exciting forms of renewable energy are developed, how do we store this energy? Can Hydrogen provide a viable method of energy storage for a low carbon future? This hands-on workshop allows participants to design and build a hydrogen powered model car. Each car will then be tested in a ‘three-heat’ race to discover which design is the most efficient.
