Arcola to participate in Dalston Children’s Festival

Arcola Creative Engagement are pleased to be involved with the 2016 Dalston Children’s Festival. Launching this coming Saturday 28th May, with a second Saturday of events on 4th June, children will be spoilt for choice for exciting things to see and do for free across Dalston.

Bridging the Saturday’s either side of the half-term holidays, the Dalston Children’s Festival 2016 is the perfect way for Hackney’s young people, aged under 18, to be entertained for free whilst giving families the chance to discover the fun children can have in Dalston all year round.

With creativity and play at the heart of the festival, Dalston’s vibrant artistic and play communities will have activities on offer both indoors and out from local businesses and a host of other diverse groups.

Cllr Jonathan Mcshane, Cabinet Member for Libraries and Culture said:

“This is a fantastic free event for Hackney’s families and children in the centre of one the borough’s most creative and diverse areas. With the help of many local community groups, businesses and artists, the festival provides a great start and end to the half-term holidays whilst giving the borough’s young people the opportunity to take part in creative play and activities they may have never experienced before. The festival isn’t to be missed and I would invite all families from across Hackney to enjoy the wonderful activities and events on offer in Dalston throughout both weekend’s and throughout the year.”

Arcola’s Creative Engagement Manager, Nick Connaughton said:

“Dalston has a rich and diverse offer for children, young people and families. We are very excited to be taking part in the 2016 Dalston Children’s Festival and showcasing our acclaimed youth theatre through two drop in workshops to be held at Arcola on Sat 4th June. This will launch an exciting summer of children and young people’s activity at Arcola. As always, we are thankful for the support of Hackney Council, supporting and funding the Dalston Children’s Network to curate and deliver the Festival.”

The Dalston Children’s Festival is a community-led event and has been organised by the Dalston Children’s Network (DCN), a collective of organisations that have an on-going offer for children and young people in Dalston, and is supported and funded by Hackney Council.
