A letter from Mehmet Ergen

Arcola audiences old and new,

Mark Jagasia spent 12 years writing for some of Britain’s best-known newspapers. In 2007, he left the industry to write an explosive first play about it.

Clarion shines a dazzling light on the dark heart of our national press. As soon as I received the script last year, I programmed a reading in our PlayWROUGHT festival of new writing. Those who were there know how special it was. I left determined to bring the play to a wider audience, and to direct a full production.

This is it. Tonight, 21 days before the general election, Clarion opens at Arcola Theatre. In the lead roles, two of the finest actors of their generation: Greg Hicks, acclaimed member of the RSC for almost 40 years, and three-time Olivier Award-winner Clare Higgins. An outstanding supporting cast. An exceptional and ambitious team of designers.

We’re all ready, and extremely excited, to present the world premiere of Mark’s blistering comedy.

Tickets are cheap (you’ll get change from £20). The bar is open from 5pm till late. The stage is set. We hope you’ll join us.
